The Department Of Homeland Graffiti – Evan Roth

Graffiti artists + computer geeks = open source graffiti. Much like his previous presentation at Function13, the one and only Evan Roth showcased some of the innovating work he and Graffiti Research Lab has done. Pushing the boundaries of public space and freedom of speech. Creating tools for empowerment and urban communications to overpower advertisers.

They’ve been doing that for a long time, and I don’t believe it’s going to stop taggers. Funny that you linked your name to a cleaning service, not sure if your spamming.
Mahalo Daily did an interesting story on graffiti removal, check it at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFkPcx9V1UA
I have mixed feelings about graffiti. It’s amazing art but most of them are amateur writers tagging up some pretty poor work which makes the developed graffiti scene look bad. Removal companies are needed, but their needs to be a balance. Cities need an effective way for the common citizens to communicate to the masses and not get drown out by high paying advertisers. That’s why I love the work Evan and his team at Graffiti Research Lab are doing with lasers and that they’re allowing anybody with interest to grab that laser pen and send a message.
